The academic year of Oulu University of Applied Sciences is divided into two terms:
- Autumn term from the end of August and beginning of September to Christmas holiday
- Spring term from January to the end of May
NOTICE! The registration procedures of exchange students need to be accomplished before September 10th for the autumn term and January 15th for the spring term. Students are recommended to arrive in Finland in good time before their studies begin.
The registration of degree students differs from that of the exchange students. Degree students should read the enrolment instructions carefully. New degree students receive detailed instructions for enrolment in the notification of admission.
Study calendar 2016-2017
The academic year of Oulu University of Applied Sciences has an autumn term from 24.8.2016 to 31.12.2016 and a spring term from 4.1.2017 to beginning of June 2016 (different programmes will end according to their own timetables that will be published later. Teaching in Oamk LABs will continue until 16 June 2017).
The academic year 2016–2017 is divided into periods.
- 1. period: 29.8. – 23.10.2016, 8 weeks teaching
- 2. period: 31.10. – 25.12.2016, 8 weeks teaching
- 3. period: 9.1. – 5.3.2017, 8 weeks teaching
- 4. period: 13.3. – 7.5.2017, 8 weeks teaching
- 5. period: 8.5. – 2.7.2016, max. 8 weeks of teaching
Autumn break: 24–30 October 2016 (always in the 43rd week of the calendar year)
All Saints' Day: 5 November 2016
Independence Day: 6 December 2016
Christmas holiday: 23 December 2016 – 8 January 2017
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day: 24–26 December 2016
New Year's Day: 1 January 2017
Epiphany: 6 January 2017
Winter holiday: 6–12 March 2017 (always in the 10th week of the calendar year)
Easter: 14 – 17 April 2017
May Day: 1 May 2017
Ascension Day: 25 May 2017
Midsummer: 23–24 June 2017
There are no set examination periods. Each campus of Oulu University of Applied Sciences gives details regarding their respective examination period and assessment system later on in the academic year.
