This Guide for Applicants advises you how to apply for the international degree programmes instructed in English at Oulu University of Applied Sciences. Students are selected through a joint application system for Bachelor degree programmes conducted in English in Finnish universities of applied sciences. The system is based on an online application that can be accessed at www.admissions.fi. By filling one online form, the applicant can apply for at most four different degree programmes in 24 Finnish universities of applied sciences. Students attending degree programmes instructed in Finnish are selected through a separate national joint application system, based on school certificates, work experience and entrance examinations. There are two enrolments each year, in March – April and in September. For these students, fluency in Finnish language is a requirement, as well as one of the following: a matriculation examination certificate, a secondary school (high school) certificate, an International Baccalaureate certificate, a European Baccalaureate certificate, a Reifeprüfung certificate, a post-secondary school certificate or an upper secondary level vocational certificate or some other vocational certificate.
Each year, around 300 foreign exchange students complete parts of their studies at Oulu University of Applied Sciences. Usually they come to Finland within the framework of an EU programme or an agreement made between the Oulu University of Applied Sciences and one of its partners.
Separate applications for short-term studies, i.e. to attend certain courses given in English at Oulu University of Applied Sciences, can be considered at all times. These short-term courses (3–60 credits/ECTS credits) are offered mainly to exchange students of institutions participating in the joint exchange programmes.
