Higher education or former Finnish college-level degree in a suitable field (information technology, computer science or media). Applicants from the international partner institutions are required to have a study background suitable to the contents of the programme but not a completed degree. All applicants are required to have earlier skills in the field of media (information and communication technology skills) and sufficient English language proficiency.
Digital Media and Multi-Broadcasting studies are designed to respond to the needs of business life in the fields of multi-broadcasting and digital media technology. The studies offer latest knowledge, technology and skills to work in the new media industries with the core idea of learning by doing. The programme is an excellent opportunity to explore latest developments in digital media production, Web master skills, mobile media application and device development, as well as to gain international study experience. DEGREE-SPECIFIC POINTS
In this context partner institutions are the international partner institutions of the School of Engineering and the School of Music, Dance and Media, Degree Programme in Communication.
Work experience relevant to the contents of the course:
3 monts -1 year, 2 points; > 1 year - 2 years, 3 points; > 2 years - 3 years, 4 points; > 3 v, 5 points.
MEDIA SKILLS:
The education requires media skills, that mean skills in information and communication technology. Media skills will be evaluated from the explanation of media skills the applicant writes into the application form according to the following: Good skills: 5 points, mediocre skills: 3 points. An applicant must score the minimum of 3 points in this section in order to be selected.
Applicants have to enclose a notarised copy of the degree certificate used for scoring the application and copies of work certificates or employer's references (in case the applicant has previous and relevant work experience) with their application.
For Finnish applicants the English language proficiency will be evaluated from the Media Skills part.
Partner institution applicants' English language proficiency will be evaluated from the Media Skills section. Additionally the applicants from the partner institutions should enclose a recommendation and affirmation of the contact person of their home institution to prove the English language proficiency and study attainments.
For other international applicants the minimum language skills requirement is IELTS score academic level 5.5, TOEFL score 550 for the paper-based test , TOEFL score 213 for the computer-based test, TOEFL score 79-80 for the internet-based test, grade C in the Finnish Matriculation examination in advanced level English or skills level 4 in English in the Finnish National Language Proficiency Certificate. Both TOEFL and IELTS test results are valid for two years. The Finnish National Language Proficiency Certificate does not have a set date of validity. The language certificate or an officially notarised copy of the certificate must be delivered to the admissions office.
In addition, secondary school education in English completed in Great Britain, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa, or a Bachelor or Master degree completed in English in one of these countries, is also accepted as a demonstration of sufficient English language skills. Degree conducted in English in a Finnish university/ university of applied sciences or a verifiable working experience (minimum of 1 year) in English in a company/organisation in Finland are also accepted as a demonstration of sufficient English language skills.
An applicant must score the minimum of 4 points in order to be selected. In case of tie points the applicants will be ranked according to the media skills.
