Graduation and Entering Working Life

Your graduation is at hand, congratulations!

Once the student has completed his/her studies and his/her Bachelor's thesis has been approved, there still remains a thing or two to do: receiving the degree certificate and filling in the employment query. After this, it is time to enter the labour market. At this phase, it is essential that the applicant has been prepared for the job search. Also, if the graduates wish to maintain their contacts with the university of applied sciences and fellow students, they can join the alumni association of Oulu University of Applied Sciences.

Applying for a degree and degree certificate

For confirmation of degrees all the schools of Oulu University of Applied Sciences that award degrees have a Degree College chaired by the director of the school. The Degree College assembles every month with the exception of July.

It is possible to apply for a degree once all the studies have been assessed, registered and possible attempts to raise the grades and rectification applications have been processed. The degree certificate application and the employment questionnaire are filled in Asio. The Degree College will consider at its meeting all applications that have been submitted no later than 14 days before the meeting.

The date of the degree certificate is the date when the Degree College assembles and it is signed within two weeks of the Degree College meeting.

Each year Oulu University of Applied Sciences sends an employment query to the newly graduated. In 2009, 56,2 % of the graduated students were immediately employed. The employment situation by the study fields is as follows:

Alumni activities

Oulu University of Applied Sciences cooperates closely with its graduates through alumni activities. All graduates of Oulu University of Applied Sciences can participate in our alumni activities. The membership is free. The graduated students can choose their preferred way of participating in alumni activities.
