It is compulsory for every student to enrol at the university of applied sciendes at the start of each academic year. The enrolment must be completed for the whole academic year (1 August to 31 July) either by using the Asio student administration software or the Enrolment form for students continuing their studies
[.doc]. First year students have to enrol according to the instructions given with the notification of admission.

Before enrolling as absent, students must read the enrolment instructions carefully, so that they are aware of the consequences caused by the absence.

A student who enrols as absent must report the cancellation of his/her study grant to the KELA Centre for Student Financial Aid.
Obligations of a student who continues studies after an absence:
A student who is continuing his/her studies must enrol during the period from 15 April to 31 May for the whole following academic year. He/she can change his/her enrolment for absence/presence during the enrolment period. There is an additional enrolment period from 1 June to 10 September, when a student is only allowed to enrol as present. A student who has been granted a discretionary extension period to complete his/her studies is not allowed to enrol as absent.

If a student does not complete his/her enrolment within the given time limit, he/she forfeits his/her right to study. Absence without enrolment as absent shortens the prescribed maximum duration of studies. If a student wishes to continue his/her studies, he/she can re-apply
[.doc] for the right to study at the university of applied sciences. The director of study affairs can restore the right to study from the beginning of the following Spring term or academic year when the student has filled in the enrolment form of a student continuing his/her studies.
If the duration of the studies exceeds the prescribed duration of the studies, the university of applied sciences can, under special circumstances, grant the student a discretionary extension period to complete his/her studies. The discretionary extension period
[.doc] must be applied for during validity of the right to study. Unforeseen or exceptional circumstances in the life of the student are the prerequisite for the extension period.
Students are entitled to apply to the university of applied sciences for rectification of the decision on forfeiture of the right to study as further specified by decree of the Council of State. A student can submit a request for rectification within 14 days of being notified of the decision.
