Learning outcomes:

Students can communicate in everyday work situations paying attention to cultural behaviour and habits. Students command essential grammatical structures, understand technical texts, know the basic terms and concepts of their special field and are familiar with Finland and Finnish industries.

Contents:

Essential grammatical structures, listening and speaking activities (e. g. telephone conversations, small talk, telling about oneself and one's education, telling about Finland and Finnish industries). Technical terms of students' special field , technical topics, basics of writing emails, fax messages and letters, cultural information.

Requirements:

80% mandatory attendance, presentations, small projects and written exam.

Literature:

Online material and literature will be introduced at the beginning of the course.

Prerequisites:

No prerequisites needed.

Assessment:

Grading scale 0 - 5.
