Learning outcomes:

The student knows the basic laws of probability and can apply these to random phenomena. The student knows how to describe a sample with it's statistics and frequency distribution. The student knows most common discrete and continuos probability distibutions and can solve simple probability and statistical problems.

Contents:

The concept of probability and basic formulas; frequency distribution,discrete and continuos probability distributions;statistics of a sample;confidence intervall;testing hypothesis

Requirements:

One exam. The course is compulsory.

Croft, Davison & Hargreaves. Engineering mathematics, Addison Wesley. 2nd ed. (ISBN 0-201-87744-9) or 3d ed. (ISBN 0 130 26858 5). Chapters 26 and 27 2nd ed. or 28 and 29 3rd ed.

Prerequisites:

The preceding compulsory courses R1211 and R1213

Assessment:

Grading scale 0 - 5.
