In addition, there are courses that the student can study in the Department of Information Processing Science at the University of Oulu. These courses will be agreed upon yearly. Please note, that all courses require preset minimum number of participants and therefore the timing of courses is subject to change.

OPTIONAL LANGUAGES IN PROFESSIONAL STUDIES											6
All students must take 6 credits of optional language studies. The student can enhance her/his English skills. Optional Finnish language studies are recommended for foreign students who plan to work in Finland. Studies in Spanish, French, German and Russian can be started at the elementary level or at the level based on upper secondary school studies. Japanese is offered only at the elementary level. Through cooperation with Oulu University in language instruction, the selection of courses available to students has increased (e. g. Italian and Chinese). Notice that all language courses require a preset minimum number of participants and therefore the timing of courses is subject to change.

FREE-CHOICE STUDIES											15
The student will select 15 credits of courses according to her/his own choice. However, the courses must be in balance with the objectives of the degree programme. Studies can be 1) optional studies of own degree programme, 2) foreign languages, 3)prep courses, 4)other degree programme studies of the School of Business and Information Management or other schools of the Oulu University of Applied Sciences or 5) from other institutions of higher education.
