At Oulu UAS quality work is done daily. The commitment of the entire Oulu UAS community is the most important precondition for the success of quality assurance. In the Oulu UAS we believe that good results will be achieved when the operations are planned, monitored, evaluated and developed systematically. Documentation plays a key role in quality assurance. Oulu UAS also promotes quality culture, develops self-assessment procedures and participates in external evaluations.
In the Oulu UAS the quality assurance system is depicted as a bakery. It covers all the activities in the univer-sity, produces suitable information and encourages constant development. The quality assurance system includes procedures and processes that maintain and develop the quality of operations and implement the strategy. The quality assurance system functions also as a resource planning system. The system is realized in the staff intranet, Heimo.
The Rector is responsible for the resource planning and quality assurance system of Oulu UAS. The Vice-Rector coordinates the quality assurance work and the strategy implementation. The owners of the core and support processes are responsible for the quality assurance of their processes throughout the entire organisa-tion. The operations of the Schools are managed through the processes in accordance with the matrix. The Director of School is responsible for ensuring that the quality assurance work in the School progresses according to the policies of Oulu UAS. The resource planning model of Oulu UAS ensures that the quality work is closely integrated into management.
The entire staff, students and stakeholders take part in the quality assurance work by participating in working groups and providing feedback. The staff is responsible for developing the quality of the operations of their own areas of expertise. This development work is done according to the principles agreed at performance reviews. Students take part in the quality assurance work by participating in Degree Programme Teams, other working groups and student organisations. Students also give feedback on every course they study. In addi-tion to the working groups, the stakeholders participate in various projects and events and give feedback on, for example, training and employability.
The operations and quality assurance policies of Oulu UAS are documented in Quality Manual (available only in Finnish). Annual quality assurance tasks are listed in the plan of action. The actions are reported through interim and annual reports.
