Regional development is part of the University of Applied Sciences' research, development and teaching tasks. The operational area of the university covers the entire Northern Finland. The needs of the region as well as development plans and strategies form a firm basis for regional development activities and the influence of the Oulu University of Applied Sciences.
Oulu University of Applied Sciences participates in regional development in cooperation with the industrial and commercial sectors and various other sectors of working life. It also co-operates effectively with Finnish and international universities and educational institutes. Rector Jouko Paaso and Director of Research and Development Irene Isohanni are responsible for regional development and they co-operate with the directors of the schools.
