Jane Ojo – a Nigerian degree student of International Business at Oulu University of Applied Sciences – arrived in Finland four months ago. She says that despite the cold and dark weather in Finland, she has enjoyed her stay here.

Jane Ojo has become friends for life with Lithunian Diana and Romanian Jon Elena.

– So far so good. And I think I am getting used to the dark and cold, she says.

Jane wanted to come to study in Finland because it has always been her dream to have an international degree in the field of international business.

However, Jane’s life in Finland is not all about studying. She also spends time with new friends she has met during her stay.

– I have found two great new friends: Lithuanian Diana Dita Augulyte, and Romanian Jon Elena Isabela, who is married to a Finnish guy.
So far so good. And I think I am getting used to the dark and cold.

Jane spends her free time with Diana and Jon Elena, for example, by swimming, going to sauna and shopping.

– I do so much cool stuff with them and they are really nice friends. They have showed me so many nice places here in Oulu, Jane praises.

Friends can help you get used to the cold weather.

Friends help getting along

Jane says that it was not very hard to find new friends in Finland.

– When I arrived, people were all very welcoming and friendly to me.

Jane thinks that it is very important for an international student to find friends in a new country.

– Finding new friends is really cool because it will help you get along with the studies and your stay in a new environment, she explains.

Jane does not know yet whether she is going to stay in Finland after she has completed her studies.

- Time will tell. But whatever happens, I will always keep in touch with Diana and Jon Elena.
