Research and Development

The basic activities of Oulu University of Applied Sciences include research and development work. It also participates in regional development projects. The objective of research and development is to improve the quality of teaching at the Oulu University of Applied Science and serve the needs of working life. Research and development work focuses on the requirements set by working life and is professionally oriented. It also enables reacting in a flexible manner to changes in the competence needs.

Oulu University of Applied Sciences is committed to developing the Northern Finland region by producing new members of the workforce, supporting entrepreneurship, developing project and innovation-related activities and promoting international cooperation.

Research and Development at Raahe School of Engineering and Business

Applied research involves the development of new practical applications, methods and ways of solving problems. It is based on the results of basic research.

Development work is innovative, practical development focused on the creation and improvement of new products, production processes or systems.

Basic research does not involve the creation of practical applications, but is focused on the creation and testing of new hypotheses, theories and laws. In an university of applied sciences, basic research is primarily the scientific research work carried out by the staff.
