On 20 April 2004, an association was established for graduates of the Oulu University of Applied Sciences. The word "alumnus" is Latin and originally meant an apprentice, pupil or protégé. Today, an alumnus means someone who has graduated from an university of applied sciences or university.

Objectives

The starting point of Oulun seudun ammattikorkeakoulun Alumnit ry is to create a comprehensive cooperation network to serve the alumni themselves, current students of Oulu UAS, the educational planning of Oulu UAS, and the needs of industry and commerce.

Alumni activities offer the opportunity for networking, developing education, strengthening one's own and the polytechnic's reputation and valuation, support for current students, as well as relaxation and having fun.

The alumni association works in close cooperation with Oulu University of Applied Sciences and the student union of Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OSAKO). Other cooperation partners include labour market organiations, other alumni association, and other companies and associations in industry and working life.

The objectives of Oulun seudun ammattikorkeakoulun Alumnit ry are:

• developing education to be better oriented to the needs of working life
• raising the reputation and valuation of Oulu UAS and its education
• building a contact channel for alumni
• promotion of opportunities for continuing education and supplementary education
