The objective of practical training is to familiarise students in a guided fashion with as many functions and work tasks central to vocational studies as possible, so that the student is able to apply his or her knowledge and skills. The student will analyse critically the principles, content and working methods of his or her operations via his or her own values, attitudes and knowledge base.
The organisation of practical training is agreed on through a written agreement between the Oulu University of Applied Sciences and the employer. The scope of the practical training included in bachelor's degree is 30 study points (20 working weeks).
The school supports and guides the student in finding a place for practical training, but the student carries the main responsibility for the practice work. Practical training can also be carried out abroad.
The universities of applied sciences also have their own free career and recruitment network: www.jobstep.net. Jobstep is a joint CV database for Finnish university of applied sciences students and graduates and an electronic bulletin board for jobs, internships, and thesis work places, and for various project offers. Registered employers can search the Web for students seeking practical training or a thesis worker.
If a salary is paid for the practical training, the practice worker is included within the scope of the employer's insurance. Unpaid practical training is covered by the insurance taken out by the federation of municipalities.
If you want to offer a traineeship, please get in touch with the contact persons for practical training.
