Bachelor of Engineering
The Degree Programme in Information Technology and Telecommunications educates its students for the needs of international working life and to become engineers that have the skills and flexibility needed in the rapidly changing field. The graduates work in the fields of R&D, product design and management. In addition, entrepreneurship is encouraged. Students are introduced to the basics of information technology. Furthermore, study subjects include team work, leadership and communication skills. Depending upon the subject selections, the students acquire deeper knowledge of such topics as software development, embedded systems, microelectronics, telecommunications and RF-technology or measurement and testing technologies. The aim of the modular structure of the studies is to provide students, in addition to a general understanding of the field, with designer's skills in at least one area of specialisation.
In the Option of Electronics Design and Testing students study different electronic circuits. The main topics of studies are design and testing methods of analog and digital application specific circuits.
In the Option of Software Development students study mobile and embedded systems. Studies include programming languages and processes of software development.
In the Option of Wireless Telecommunications students study different communication networks and network applications. Studies include such topics as mobile networks, computer networks, signal processing and RF-technology.
The degree programme has close connections to the local industry and research, which assures the good quality of teaching and maintains the studies well up to date. Furthermore, good connections to different partner universities abroad offer students varied chances to study and work abroad. The language of teaching is mainly Finnish. However, due to the increased international co-operation, there are also project and specifically tailored study possibilities in English for international students.
