In the autumn term 2008 German- and Finnish-speaking students who are enrolled at Oulu UAS may take part in a new optional or free choice course, the Tandem studies (3 ECTS cr, 17.9.-17.12.2008).
Tandem studies allow you to work together in pairs, each participant being a native speaker of German or Finnish. Thus both can share information about their own language and culture, and learn the foreign language or delve into the respective culture. The pairs meet on a regular basis each week to discuss pre-arranged topics.
The course content is agreed upon at the beginning of the course together with the course coordinator, Ms Sabine Grasz, German language teacher at the University of Oulu/Language Centre. The learning progress reports are made after each meeting by means of a journal. There are meetings with the course coordinator and the entire group of pairs during the course and at the end.
Support for Finnish-language learning in the course of the Tandem studies is available from Mrs Inkeri Leiber, Finnish language teacher at Oulu UAS/School of Engineering.
The course is intended for Finnish/German language students of all levels, including beginners.
