Media

The department of media and performing arts offers exchange studies in English in the field of media during 2018-2019. In autumn 2018 there are Media LABs such as Digital Publishing LAB and Sight & Sound LAB studies, and in spring 2019 Journalistic LAB. You can also study Finnish Survival Course! Interdisciplinary project studies Oamk LABs are also offered in both the autumn and spring term for all kinds of media students. Information for 2019-2020 will be updated here in March 2019.

N.B.! Only courses from one exchange study programme can be taken due to timetabling constraints. Each programme can only be pursued on the whole (30 ECTS cr) for pedagogical reasons. Applications are only accepted during the regular application period, and intake may be limited depending on the programme.

Digital Publishing LAB (Autumn)

Digital Publishing LAB (EXM18SDPL) is an English-medium exchange/non-degree programme (30 ECTS cr) offered by Oulu UAS in the autumn term 2018. It fits best for 3-/4-year students with a suitable background in media. The intake is limited to up to approx. 12 exchange students.

The programme is suitable for students of graphic design, animation, business/marketing, producing and journalism. Students deepen their knowledge and skills in creating digital products, testing AR, VR, ePub and apps.

For more detailed course descriptions, visit the link above and obtain the Excel file of the respective exchange study programme. The LAB consists of a 30 ECTS cr package of studies by which demos or productions are developed for an entire term, first by pitching ideas and then by working in teams on the project in a multidisciplinary approach. Digital Publishing LAB will work in cooperation with Oulu EduLAB in Oamk LABs.

Sight & Sound LAB (Autumn)

Sight & Sound LAB (EXM18SSSL) is an English-medium exchange/non-degree programme (30 ECTS cr) offered by Oulu UAS in the autumn term 2018. It fits best for 3-/4-year students with a suitable background in media. The intake is limited to up to approx. 12 exchange students.

The programme is suitable for students of video/film making, animation, business/marketing, producing, and journalism. Students deepen their skills and knowledge in audiovisual studies.

Journalistic LAB (Spring)

Journalistic LAB (EXM19KJOL) is an English-medium exchange/non-degree programme (30 ECTS cr) offered by Oulu UAS in the spring term 2019. The programme is for 3-/4-year students with a suitable background in journalism. The intake is limited to up to approx. 5 exchange students.

Students deepen their knowledge and skills in creating journalistic products. The core of the studies is in creating journalistic content in different media forms. Student teams will have the opportunity to influence the format of the journalistic product they are working on. Teaching is adapted to the needs of student projects.

Interdisciplinary project studies Oamk LABs are also offered in spring 2019 for journalists as well as other media students.
