Entrance Exams

Oamk will invite all eligible applicants to take the entrance examination that will be in English. The main location for the entrance examination is in Oulu, Finland. However, Oamk is a part of FINNIPS network that organizes entrance exams also abroad. The list of the countries where the entrance examinations are held varies annually and can be found from the section “Entrance exams abroad”.

Applicants are required to read pre-reading material which will be available at this website during the application period.

There will be an integrated Language Test in the exam. Applicants must complete all sections to an acceptable standard.

The entrance examination consists of the following sections (min./max. scores):

Essay (3/10 pts.)
Multiple-choice questions (2/6 pts.)
Mathematics and Logic (2/8 pts.)
Group discussion (3/16 pts.)
 
Total points: 10/40 (maximum)

The Entrance Exam Essay and Multiple-choice Questions will be based on the pre-reading material.

The total duration of the written part of the International Business / Business Management entrance examination will be 3 hours. In addition, there will be a group discussion after the written part.

The Degree Programme in International Business co-operates in the national entrance examination that is common for all programmes within the study field of Business and Administration.

Detailed instruction about the entrance examination will be given in the invitation letter.

An entrance examination is a written test lasting 4 hours. It measures study skills and aptitude for technological fields (logical reasoning skills and basic competence in mathematics and physics/chemistry), as well as English language proficiency. The language test is compulsory for all applicants and it will be assessed on a scale of pass/fail. Only applicants passing the language test will be considered for admission. The examination is common to everyone regardless of their educational background. The entrance examination result is valid for the duration of the application period in question.

Total points: 40 (maximum)

The Degree Programme in Information Technology co-operates in the national entrance examination that is common for all programmes within the study field of Technology, Communications and Transport.

Applicants are not allowed to take calculators with them to the exam.

 

Entrance exams abroad

The dates for the entrance examinations in the spring 2019 are yet to be confirmed.

Oulu University of Applied Sciences organises entrance exams abroad in co-operation with the FINNIPS-network (Finnish Network for International Programmes). The FINNIPS network consists of 13 Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences. These Universities of Applied Sciences offer over 30 Bachelor’s Degree Programmes that are conducted entirely in English. The exams of the network will be held outside Finland in March 2019. More information available here.
