|Implementation of Studies||
The programme is implemented mainly through online learning with two intensive periods. During the intensive period classroom teaching and training are organised. The advanced professional competences will mainly be implemented online since some teaching and training are given during the intensive periods.
The first intensive period of 1-2 weeks is organised at the beginning of the studies in September. The second intensive period will take place in the spring. The thesis with consultation and topic approval is started at the beginning of the studies. Students will continue the thesis by themselves but the advisor's advice as well as online meetings are available. The thesis should be completed by the end of the second intensive period.

Applicants should have Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil, chemical, environmental, mechanical, process or water engineering, environmental hygiene, environmental sciences, geology or limnology or a corresponding foreign degree. Also Finnish post-secondary or higher vocational diploma from these fields is taken into consideration.
The degree should be finished before July 16 2021.
In addition two (2) years of field specific work experience is required after the graduation. If applicant has completed a post-secondary or higher vocational level diploma in Finland in any field of education, the work experience between those diplomas and higher education degree is taken into consideration.
The deadline for work experience is July 31 2021.
The students are selected on the basis of the advance assignment. The document is evaluated on a scale of 0 to 100 points (min. points 20) and should be submitted in English in pdf-format by uploading it to the online application on 27 January 2021 at 3 pm Finnish time at the latest.
English language skills of applicants will be evaluated from the advance assignment. Advanced assignment should consist the three (3) following documents:
1. Cover letter (max 500 words)
The purpose of the cover letter is to outline the applicant's motivation and to share his / her interests and goals and the readiness to study in the program. In practice, it explains the reason why the applicant should be accepted as a student. The applicant describes his / her career and plans and how the studies are related to it. The applicant also presents how he / she intends to organize the studies taking into account work and life situation. The applicant also evaluates his / her current skills in relation to the curriculum of the applied education.
2. Curriculum vitae (CV)
The curriculum vitae should be presented in tight format. It should show, among other things, completed studies, work history and a list of publications if applicable.
3. Preliminary plan describing a development challenge (max 1000 words)
The preliminary plan should demonstrate at least one key challenge from the applicant's previous (or current) work place environment which is in need of a relevant industry. One of the most important evaluation criteria of the preliminary plan is the concreteness of the plan. The plan demonstrate applicant's capability to approach working life based deveploment assignment. The deveploment assignment can be the theme of the master thesis.
