Interlibrary loans

For staff and students of Oamk and Oulu Vocational College, Kontinkangas Unit

Interlibrary loan service is a lending service between libraries. Customers can order publications not acquired to the collections of their local libraries. Books will be delivered primarily for loan and articles as photocopies. The library giving the interlibrary loan sets the loan period and other terms of use.

There are charges for interlibrary loans. The charge must be paid at the latest when the loan is collected. Loans and photocopies from the National Repository Library are free of charge.

Oamk students writing their thesis can order interlibrary loans free of charge from Finnish libraries, the maximum of five loans per thesis with the approval from the supervising teacher. Interlibrary loans for Oamk staff are free of charge if they are ordered for teaching or professional purposes, but fee-based if ordered for private use. Interlibrary loans for projects are charged from the project funds.

To libraries and information services

Oamk Library sends interlibrary loans and photocopies to other libraries and information services. However, interlibrary loans are not sent to public libraries or research libraries in Oulu.

Course books are not allowed for interlibrary loans. Individual library units of Oamk may have further restrictions on interlibrary loans. Older theses, in print, can be sent as interlibrary loans for reading room use. More recent theses are mainly published in open repository Theseus. Theses which are published in Oamk intranet can also be sent as interlibrary loans to other libraries. There is a charge for interlibrary loans.

An interlibrary loan request should be sent to the library where the material is available, either by interlibrary loan form or by e-mail.
