KB00CS81 Introduction to Business Competences (10 cr)

Objectives The students understands the basics of Marketing, Sales and Accounting, and their role in business.

Areas of Competence:

Introduction to Sales and Marketing:
Student knows the basic concepts of marketing and understands customer-oriented marketing thinking.
The student is able to familiarize herself with innovative skills and development tasks (Innostart).
Student understands the role of selling in business and begins to develop personal selling skills.

Introduction to Accounting:
After the course, students will be able to identify the different sources of business finance available to commercial organizations. Students will be able to know the principles of financial accounting and use accounting information in different decision-making processes. Students will be able to draw up simple financial statements for a business, explain the basic information conveyed by the financial statements, and perform a basic analysis with techniques of financial analysis.

Computer Skills II: Student knows basic functions of Excel program.
Content This module may contain practical assignment(s)/project(s) from working life.

Areas of Competence:

Introduction to Sales and Marketing:
Marketing thinking, marketing environment, consumer behavior, segmentation and marketing mix. General requirements for a salesperson and selling, different selling situations, selling process, selling skills.

Introduction to Accounting:
Introduction to the role of accounting information in business organizations and in the economy and the role of financial markets and their need for financial statements; introduction to the basic principles of finance and financial accounting; Basic studies of the financial reports that provide information about a firm’s performance.
