Y00021E	Orientation to Student Exchange (3 cr)
Prerequisites	For students who have been accepted to student/trainee exchange.
Objectives	Compulsory preparation to Studies Abroad for students who have been accepted to student/trainee exchange. The students: - are prepared to make the most of their exchange experience abroad in terms of academic, intercultural and personal skills. - are able to assess their own skills and development needs in intercultural competence, benefits of the exchange period and its challenges prior to as well as after the exchange period. - know and study the practical issues related to the exchange process. - know and have tools to recognize the process of cultural adaptation. - are able and have material to tell about Oulu UAS, Oulu and Finland abroad. - understand the entire exchange process and the rights and obligations of the student in the process.
Content	Compulsory preparation to Studies Abroad for students who have been accepted to student/trainee exchange. The course is an online course including tasks related to the objectives of the course. The tasks are divided into three parts according to the required completion time: before, during and after the exchange. The language of the course is English.
Recommended optional programme components	If necessary, the student advisor will recommend optional programme components for each student based on their individual study plan.

Further Information	Compulsory course for students who are taking part in student/trainee exchange from August 2006 onwards. The course will be taken as a part of the free-choice studies. From the start of 2017 the course is carried out in the Moodle learning environment. The language of the course is English.
