Written examination. Oral proficiency is assessed on the scale of pass/fail with the help of the student´s video portfolio. Assessment is based on the grading criteria explained in more detail at the beginning of the module. The grade of the module is the same as the one of the written exam, but the student can raise the module grade by retaking the written examination. Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods
The teacher’s role is to coach and facilitate learning whereas the student is an active and responsible agent in class. The focus is on verbal communication. Students learn English of their professional field through speaking and listening while doing group and pair work in class. Independent study includes preparation for classes by doing reading and writing tasks and by searching for information in English on the Internet. The PEC courses are taught on the level B2.
